FAQs

Overview & Cost

πŸ’§ What is a Sweat Test?

A sweat test measures the amount of sodium you lose in your sweat. This number is unique to you and helps us create a personalized hydration strategy tailored to your body's needs.

It’s non-invasive and doesn't require exercise. We use a medical-grade patch to collect a small sweat sample while you're at rest. Then we analyze your sodium loss and explain what it means for your hydration, performance, and recovery.

πŸ’² How much does the sweat test cost?
The full test is $200, including sodium loss analysis, a personalized hydration plan, and a session with a sports dietitian.
πŸ“Š What do I get from the test?
You’ll receive a detailed sodium loss report and a personalized hydration strategy to match your unique needs.
⏱️ How long does the test take?
The entire appointment takes about 30–45 minutes, including explanation and results review.

Science & Purpose

πŸ§‚ What is sweat rate?

Sweat rate is how much fluid you lose β€” usually measured in liters per hour β€” and it can vary a lot based on things like temperature, humidity, fitness level, and intensity of exercise.

Sweat sodium composition is how salty your sweat is β€” how much sodium you lose per liter of sweat. Unlike sweat rate, this number stays very stable after infancy. It’s largely genetic and doesn’t change much with training or climate.

πŸ’§ Sweat rate = How fast the faucet is running
πŸ§‚ Sweat sodium = How salty the water is

For more, check out how to calculate your sweat rate here.

πŸ”¬ Is it accurate?
Yes β€” the sweat test is highly accurate. The same method is used in the medical field to diagnose cystic fibrosis. The patented device we use (through Precision Hydration) is considered the clinical standard for measuring sweat sodium and is trusted by professional athletes, healthcare systems, and research institutions.
πŸ… Is this just for athletes?
No! Anyone who sweats heavily, trains in the heat, or struggles with hydration can benefit.
⚑ Can this help with cramps or fatigue?
Yes. If electrolyte loss is a cause, knowing your sodium loss can help prevent both.
βœ… Is it safe?
Yes β€” it’s non-invasive and used by elite athletes, military units, and medical professionals worldwide.
πŸ” Do I need to get tested more than once?
Usually just once. Sweat sodium levels are mostly genetic and remain consistent over time.
