Instant Oatmeal Packets
These are a must-have for camping and convenient to have on hand for a quick meal or snack!
Ingredients Per 1 Packet
1/2-1 C rolled oats-quick oats or old fashioned
⅓ C dried milk powder *see notes for lactose free and vegan options
½ tsp cinnamon
Pinch of salt
1 Tbsp chia seeds
1 Tbsp hemp seeds
~¼ C or handful of nuts (ex: walnuts, pecans, silvered almonds, macadamia, cashew- or combo)
~¼ C dried fruit (raisin, crainsin, dates, blueberry, cherries, etc)
optional sugar of choice (brown sugar, coconut sugar, sugar cane, Stevia, etc.)
Directions
Put everything into a sandwich sized lip lock bag, mix up and seal well
Make up extra to have on hand
If making a variety of types, label each bag with a sharpie
When ready to use, add boiling water (to desired thickness), whisk together well and cover for several minutes OR add water, whisk and microwave for ~2 minutes, stopping to stir regularly
